Silchester Farm is so easy to fall in love with - we can’t get it out of our heads. Its engaging natural character invokes a passion that make it a truly unique retreat.

 

Here’s the story of the farm, our family, and the journey to today…

Silchester Farm looked very different then, but the foundations ticked all the boxes: beautiful countryside location, 18th century farmhouse and barns (the latter needing a fair amount of TLC!), acres of green space waiting for kids and animals to run through – and the opportunity for us to indulge in our shared passion for creative restoration. Basically - a real hidden gem. It didn’t take long (about ten minutes…) for us to start visualising the kitchen garden of herbs and veg for plate and glass, a romantic fairylight clad Hampshire threshing barn and – wouldn’t this be great – a boating lake for sunset cruises! (Ok – so this last one had to be reined in a just a bit…)

We always wanted to create a place where people could get together, enjoy, relax and leave the wider world behind – not just a venue for a wedding, celebration, conference or team building (we can help with all those things) – but a place which captured the feeling of: Where did the time go?

Fast forward to today…

Today we’re now a family of five (or more if you count the beloved animals…) and very proud to be able to welcome you to Silchester Farm.

We love sharing our home with likeminded guests who are looking for a tranquil piece of Englishness - a little bit of history (Silchester’s actually Roman), a generous helping of ‘quirky’ (we’re self-taught restorers and decorators) and all done leaving as small a mark as possible on the world (you’ll notice we’re so into cycling, recycling and upcycling).
