Quaffing & Troughing
The food at Silchester Farm is a laid back, luxurious celebration of British countryside dining.
We’ve worked hard to create an offering for our guests that is sourced locally, sustainable, seasonal and as much part of our personality as the farm itself.
Local harvest
We harvest what we can from our kitchen garden and surrounding fields, source fresh produce as locally as possible and from like-minded people, focus on keeping food miles to a minimum and work with a Head Chef who has a genuine passion for each ingredient used.
The result is the combination of sophistication and refinement of head-turning gastronomy, mixed with the warm and welcoming rusticity that runs through our veins.
Take a look at some of our sample menus below. As we focus on seasonality in all our menus, they are all subject to change.
We are passionate about what goes in and comes out of our kitchen.
All of our menus are created utilising as much as possible from what Hampshire and our close neighbours have to offer, alongside seasonal and preserved produce from our own kitchen garden. Here are some of our favourite grower and producer friends:
The experience, the feeling
Being lucky enough to have such a large family, Al and Carla know that some of life's best memories are created over a table. They have always loved great food and know that the real enjoyment of dining comes from all the senses.
“We want you to feel comfortable, relaxed and without inhibition to enjoy the whole food experience here at Silchester Farm. It’s important to us that you feel good about every bite and each sip - that’s why we’re always striving to keep waste to a minimum, use the best and most fresh local ingredients (even if they are a little wonky!), support local growers and producers, and put back into the community and earth as much as we can.
We really hope you enjoy what’s created and keep coming back for more.”

Forum Romanum
‘A site located at the centre of the ancient city of Rome and the location of important religious, political and social activities’
For our family here at Silchester Farm, our modern day Forum is our bar, a place where generations meet, memoirs are shared and joy is certain.
For here we are,
“Friends & family serving friends & family”
We have two fully licensed, beautiful rustic bars here at the farm – one in The Old Henhouse and one in The Cow Shed. Both are stocked with local ales, a premium selection of spirits and wines sourced from the UK and beyond, as well as a selection of soft drinks and sustainably sourced water.
We are big on recycling – so our bars are plastic free and we champion cans over glass as they have a lower carbon footprint. We use wheat stalk straws which are fully compostable (after you’ve finished with them – unlike the paper versions!). And if you’re into vodka, we have a great relationship with Sapling Vodka so that every bottle we buy – they plant a tree here on the farm.
Silchester Farm - Premium Craft Gin
Working with friends of the farm - Hawkridge Distillery, we are pleased to release our new in house premium craft gin ‘Wingless Eagle’
The Wingless Eagle is one of the most famous objects found in the excavations of the Roman town of Calleva Atrebatum of Silchester. The eagle is a symbol of imperial power and therefore represents courage, strength and immortality - qualities that run through our veins here at Silchester Farm.
Growing our own botanicals on site, ensures we are infusing our gin authentically with the freshest farm ingredients.
A careful combination of Rose, Thyme, Rosemary, Lemon Verbena, Lavender, Wild Gorse Flower, Honey, Juniper, Spearmint and Oregano - distilled to perfection.
Available behind the bar, offering a delicious tipple to be enjoyed at an event at the farm, also available to purchase by the bottle.
In addition to our large bottles to enjoy at home, we are pleased to introduce our Miniature favor sized bottles - the perfect wedding gift to guests or for your celebration at Silchester Farm.
At an introductory offer of only £6.50 per bottle (double shot) orders can be placed through our events team as below:
